Late Summer in the Mearns is a fine art print which was
published in a limited edition of 500 in 1998.
The view is from the Garvock Hill looking North and West
towards the Grampians. A group of trees clustering around
some farm buildings forms a focal point. From here, the eye
is drawn across the broad sweep of the Howe of the Mearns -
a rolling landscape of field patterns punctuated by more lines
of dark trees. Harvest fields shimmer in the heat of a
cloudless late summer's afternoon. In the foreground, dried
grasses, their seed-heads waving in the soft breeze, border a
cut field: a poignant reminder of Autumn days to come.
Developed from a watercolour completed in August, 1997, and
measuring 54 X 39 cm, Late Summer in the Mearns is
printed on 250 gsm silk art paper. Each copy is numbered
and signed. The printers, Halcon Ltd of Stonehaven, have an
established reputation as specialists in producing fine art
prints.
Late Summer is available directly from me at £60 (inc
